FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Rich Kid Cool celebrates 20th Anniversary of Nolan Ryan beat down of Robin Ventura.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNA. August 4, 2013. To understand its history, RKC takes you back 20 years. On August 4, 1993, Robin Ventura of the Chicago White Sox was hit in the ribs by a pitch delivered by Nolan Ryan of the Texas Rangers. Instead of walking to first base and brushing off the incident, the young Ventura charged the mound. What ensued was one of the greatest bench clearing beatdowns in baseball history. Ryan, at 46, was 20 years older than Ventura. Age didn't stop him from quickly incapacitating the White Sox third baseman with a headlock and delivering a barrage of punches to the face. The two were eventually separated and Ventura was ejected from the game.

"It was a defining moment of my childhood as a young baseball fan," said Michael Ernst, Creative Liaison Director at Rich Kid Cool. "To watch one of the greatest -- and oldest players -- of that time hold his own and defend his place in history was incredible. As a young man, something seemed important about it, I just didn't know what. But now, in my late 30s, I understand why."

At times the world seems a bleak place for aging hipsters. Once kings of their respective castles, they're quickly being replaced by young upstarts, much like the volatile Ventura. Celebrating this event, 20 years later, in a baseball loving yet youth-obsessed city like San Francisco, seems to bring the appropriate message to those who feel out of touch or disenfranchised. Proving yourself isn't about age: it's about throwing the right punch when the opportunity presents itself.

"If you want to buy some peanuts or Cracker Jacks, then play ball," stressed Nish Nadaraja, Chief Executive of Marketing Lightning. "As someone who's seen plenty of grass on the playing field, I don't care if I never go back. But what we're trying to capture on this 100% cotton instant artifact is that there isn't anyone else like 'me' to go down in history. It's never too late, just later than it was, and if you're gonna do something, try and make sure it will get you featured on a solipsistic t-shirt 20 years later."

T-shirts will be sold through the month of August on a limited run of 50 on Storenvy. A free, unopened pack of 1993 Topps Baseball Cards will complement each order.

Neither Nolan Ryan nor Robin Ventura could be reached for comment at time of release.
